While DC isn’t my favorite place ever, I have to admit it has its moments. Cherry Blossom season is definitely one of those moments, though sadly it is very fleeting.
This year, Toby was out of town for “peak bloom” (which is only a few days), but he got back just in time to see the last of the pink flowers.
In typical DC fashion, the weather was super weird that week, so it stormed the day before (knocking some of the delicate flowers off the branches), and was pretty cold the day we went to the tidal basin. I wasn’t originally planning on wearing this coat, but I’m very glad I did!
Unfortunately we have forgotten to sign up for the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler every year, and now we’re moving again, so we won’t be doing it anytime soon. However, my friend Heather ran it this year, and she said it was absolutely freezing and insanely windy, so perhaps it’s for the best that we experienced the cherry blossoms by walking at a leisurely pace.
