Pencil skirt + silky blouse + cardigan + pumps. Yeah, it’s a bit of a uniform… but it doesn’t have to be boring.
I got this skirt on sale about two years ago because I really loved the print. I wasn’t sure how often I’d be able to wear it, but it has turned out to be one of the most versatile skirts in my closet — more so than many of the sold colors — because it works with so many colors: navy, emerald, olive, hot pink, cobalt. It also goes perfectly with my navy blue 3/4 sleeved-blazer, if I’m feeling suit-y.
I decided to keep my blouse and sweater relatively tame since these blue patent-leather kitten heels aren’t exactly subtle. But I think the mix of colors helped keep the look from being a total snoozefest.
Blouse: Madewell (old, similar, similar, similar), Sweater: J.Crew (super old), Skirt: J.Crew (old, but this one and this one are cute, and this one has a cool painting-like print), Shoes: Lilly Pulitzer (same style in a different color is on sale now!), Bag: Madewell (similar color)
