Have you seen the ads for “Enlisted”? It’s a new Fox comedy about three brothers (played by Geoff Stults, Chris Lowell and Parker Young) who are soldiers in a rear detachment unit in Florida. It premieres Friday. And it’s hilarious.
I know because I got the (awesome) opportunity to preview a few episodes, visit the set and interview the actors for work (!!!!).
If you’re a member of the military, you may have been turned off by some of the previews, which show the main actors doing all sorts of things that would get real soldiers in trouble — from walking around outside without covers to standing on the grass. But the show’s creators didn’t mean to offend anyone, and once they heard they had made so many mistakes, they brought in military consultants to help.
They also sent the main actors (including the drop-dead gorgeous Angelique Cabral, below) to a mini boot camp at Fort Bliss, in Texas. You can watch some videos of their experience here.
And honestly, the show is really funny despite any uniform errors or regulation-busting haircuts that may be included in the first few episodes. They call it a workplace comedy in which the workplace is the military, and the creator of the show (the uber-nice Kevin Biegel) worked on Scrubs and even on South Park. It’s definitely worth checking out — whether you’re part of a military family or not.
Plus, um, are you seeing these pictures? Let’s just say there are a lot of reasons to watch.
Ahhh! So fun! I love that you got to do this! <3
