For my 16th birthday, I got an awesome butterfly necklace from Delia*s. Man, I loved that necklace. It was an embroidered butterfly on this black rubber-looking base, with a metal bead chain. I wore it constantly (including in my senior portraits), until it disappeared. My mom probably got sick of me wearing it and threw it away. I later purchased (and wore out) a really cute butterfly bathing suit and even a butterfly shower curtain.

But it’s hard to find items with butterflies on them that don’t look like they belong to Mariah Carey and/or a 7-year old. So as soon as I saw this butterfly sweater from J.Crew, I knew I had to have it.

I mean, seriously. How cute is that? I got it when they were having a 30 percent off deal, too. Of course, someone I interviewed the day I wore it asked if I had worn “a weird sweater” the last time I had interviewed her (I had been wearing the French hen sweater from J.Crew, apparently).

But, whatever. I love this sweater. I also thought this braided style was a fun way to get my hair out of my face without wearing it in a bun for the 9,000th day in a row. What do you think?
