Valentine’s Day

I’m sure all you romantics, lover of hearts, and wearers of pink and red are well aware, but Valentine’s Day is coming. Like, soon.

I’m going to have a new recipe or two for you before then, but in the meantime I wanted to call attention to a few recipes you might enjoy:

ombre-hearts

Ombre heart cookies (pictured above). This is really more of a decorating method than a recipe, but it looks cool and is open to all sorts of fun interpretations.

Heart tarts. Homemade, heart-shaped Pop-Tarts.

Stained glass cake. Jello and Cool Whip in cake form.

Strawberries and champagne macarons. Self-explanatory.

Spicy chocolate mousse. Totally easy, totally rad.

Raspberry cupcakes with blood-orange buttercream. Naturally pink!

Red velvet whoopie pies. You could try making them in heart shapes… but that might be going a bit too far, don’t you think?

tell-tale-heart-cupcake

Tell-tale heart cupcakes. A lot of work, but really awesome looking.

Cherries on a cloud. One of my favorite desserts ever. It involves marshmallows, meringue and cherry pie filling.

OR, if you don’t want to go the dessert route, perhaps the way to your special someone’s heart is some beer macaroni and cheese? Fancy mac and cheese? Or traditional (but intense) macaroni and cheese? Because nothing says “I love you” like noodles with cheese sauce.

    1. Yay! Just to warn you: Royal icing is kind of a pain if you haven’t made it before, but you could totally do it with a less fussy frosting or icing.
