Since I started an actual fire inside my oven last night and set off our smoke alarm, I think I need to tweak the recipe I was using a bit before posting it. In the meantime, I wanted to tell you about two exciting things I discovered this week while seeking lunch in Annapolis (instead of DC, where I normally work).
Today, I met Toby for lunch at Sofi’s Crepes (they have Baltimore locations, too), which we have walked by many times but never actually entered. I had the classic — with ham, Gruyere cheese and Dijon mustard. Toby had the Bananarama — with bananas, granola, honey and peanut butter. Both were great, and they even had little glass bottles of Coke, which remind me of Paris.
In fact, we liked them so much that he asked me to go back to pick something up for a snack/dinner-ish-thing (before he goes to rugby and I go to ballet). I had one with apples, caramel and cinnamon sugar (heavenly) and he had one with Nutella and banana. Unfortunately, the crepes mysteriously disappeared before I had a chance to take a photo. But we’ll definitely be going back — especially because the gelato place nearby is closed for renovations. Maybe we’ll even attempt our own crepes. It is National Pancake Week, after all.
Earlier in the week, I ordered lunch at a restaurant I already love, Luna Blu. While I was waiting for my food, I wandered into ArtFX gallery, another place I’ve walked past many times but never entered. Well, I basically love everything there. I bought a Project Have Hope bracelet (above) and am thinking about some of the other things there — but I am really obsessed with everything by Clara Nilles. Unfortunately, I don’t think we can afford to buy any of her art right now. But you really should check it out. I love the bears. And the sea turtles. And the giraffes.
P.S. In completely unrelated news, I finally received this month’s Vogue. It features quite a cast of characters — including Lady Gaga (sporting a cotton-candy bob), semi-homemade/tablescape queen Sandra Lee, a former cult member and Syria’s first lady. I haven’t read the whole thing yet, but I will tell you that the “Starved for Love” essay referenced on the cover is very disturbing… even more so because it appears just a few pages away from an article about online fitness aids featuring a pull-out quote about an iPhone app that scolds you for chewing too quickly and taking too many bites of food. Not good, Vogue.
Hi,
I found your blog about me….many thanks for the compliment!!
Its nice to get more exposure for my art.
