I haven’t been writing much about swimming because I figured it’s not that interesting to read about how many laps I did or didn’t swim. But I could use some advice.
I got a new lap swimming bathing suit at the Naval Academy a week or so ago — it’s navy blue one (of course) and is probably the standard one female Midshipmen wear. Although it’s pretty grandma-tastic (low-cut legs, thick straps, lots of back coverage) it is also surprisingly flattering. The only problem is that when I push off the wall, the water pushes the top down. So now my weird touch-the-wall-turn-myself-around maneuver involves using one hand to yank my bathing suit back up.
I also have this problem with my TYR camouflage suit, but that has really thin (hot pink) straps that crisscross numerous times in the back. This one has thick straps that should be much more secure.
I’ve tried pushing the back part down under my shoulder blades… it was pretty uncomfortable but did work for a few laps. So, does anyone else have this problem? I don’t really think I can safety pin or take the straps up like a sundress.
On a semi-related note: I overheard a guy coaching a kid in the lane next to me talking about a website with swim drills and videos on it. I just glanced at it, but it looks pretty cool.
