Ripped jeans and pixie dust

You’ve probably noticed that I put my outfits together based on the event, occasion or location at which I’ll be wearing them. I think I’ve always been like that, actually: I remember going to a Phoenix Suns game when I was in middle school and wondering what the heck the woman sitting courtside in YELLOW was thinking. I mean, really? Lakers’ colors? We weren’t even playing the Lakers. So not cool. (I was wearing an orange and purple tie-dyed T-shirt, obviously).

Anyway, this compulsion of mine means that I also really like to wear Disney-themed items (or at least cutesy clothes involving bows and/or glitter) to Disneyland, and that has led to many more purchases from Hot Topic than is really appropriate for my age. It also resulted in the purchase of this shirt at a store called Vault 28 in Downtown Disney.

fairy good

Yep, that’s Tinkerbell, with ripped jeans and neon Nikes. I thought the outfit was Disney enough, without being super crazy and unwearable anywhere else.

I probably wouldn’t normally wear a CakeSpy unicorn button and leopard-esque pink Mickey print button, but I definitely liked how the the pink necklace worked with the pale pink of the shirt.

Her shoes are the cutest.

I think we can safely put “sequin princess mouse ears” in the category of “things you should only wear at a Disney park,” but since the majority of people in Disneyland are wearing some kind of mouse ears or character-themed hat, it’s a given that I was going to bring mine.

It was kind of hot the day we went, but the park is decorated for Christmas and they filmed the Christmas special (it’s Frozen themed, of course) that same morning. We had seen the Christmas fireworks show before (it’s pretty magical), but hadn’t seen the whole park decked out for the holidays, so that was pretty awesome. The Christmas parade was also pretty cool, other than the incorrect plural/punctuation on Santa’s mailbox on one of the floats (come on, Disney!).

So, what do y’all think? Do you usually choose your clothes based on what you’ll be doing or where you’ll be going that day? Or do you just go with whatever is the most comfortable / whichever thing you’re liking the best in the morning? And do you think this kind of shirt is wearable outside the context of a theme park?
