Have you ever seen pineapples growing? And did you know they aren’t native to Hawaii? They were brought over from South America.
Now there are lots of pineapples growing in Hawaii — and lots of ways to consume it. The one I was most excited about was the pineapple float at Dole plantation.
It’s not my first pineapple float. I was introduced to this wondrous concoction at Disney World in 1998. I’m going to try not to think about how long ago that was.
Anyway, the pineapple float is just “Dole whip” (soft-serve pineapple … ice-cream-like-substance) and pineapple juice. I got mine in a souvenir mug, obviously, and we named him Pete.
Magical. If you ever find yourself on Oahu — or at the Tiki Room — I would highly recommend it. Or you could just put a scoop of pineapple sherbet in some chilled pineapple juice. Of course, then you wouldn’t be able to do this:
